Alien Escape: a pixel-art alien among grey asteroids on a black background

Last month I made Alien Escape on my own in 36 hours at a Digital Jersey hackathon. I wanted something fun and retro that you could play in the browser, so I wrote a canvas engine for it as well. Practising not sleeping helps.

You are a space invader who is escaping earth, all your buddies have been shot down. So chasing you from the left is humans in their little space-ships, while you have to avoid asteroids as you escape.

Apparently, the judges were not very impressed, even though my game was the only functional and complete game. I am not salty. Maybe only a little salty.

This entry came over from blog.haddon.me. I’ve tidied up the grammar and flow, bringing it closer to how I write now. I used AI to help with the grammar, structure and flow. I have dyslexia, and my writing often comes out as a rambling scrawl, so it can be hard to see what I was actually working on at the time. I think the tidied versions are easier to digest and more interesting to read. The artefacts got the same tidy-up while I was at it.
